Characteristic Sensitivity of Turbulent Flow within a Porous Medium under Initial Conditions

چکیده

Flows within porous media play important roles in many scientific and industrial systems. However, the case wherein such flows become turbulent has not been completely understood, particularly, from a mathematical viewpoint. In this study, $k-\varepsilon$ model (the variable $k$ denotes kinetic energy per unit mass $\varepsilon$ dissipation rate for energy), which widely used usual flow clear fluid, was applied to through media. If homogeneous, averaged homogeneous isotropic turbulence are assumed, governing equations variables describe straight line as nullcline common both variables. The shown be attractor. A temporal evolution of eddy viscosity also obtained, initial final values were observed related power law, indicating universal sensitivity. This sensitivity originates is flow. Finally, nonlinear seismological implications provided using based on results obtained.

A characteristic method for porous medium flow

We present an efficient and accurate characteristic method for the solution of the unsteady-state advection-diffusion transport equations, which arise in the mathematical models for flow and transport processes in porous media. The advantages of this method include symmetrizing the governing transport equation, treating boundary conditions naturally in the formulation, and conserving mass. More...

Mathematical modeling of blood flow in a stenosed artery under MHD effect through porous medium

In this investigation, a mathematical model for studying oscillatory flow of blood in a stenosed artery under the influence of transverse magnetic field through porous medium has been developed. The equations of motion of blood flow are solved analytically. The analytical expressions for axial velocity, volumetric flow rate, pressure gradient, resistance to blood flow and shear stress have been...

Colloid mobilization and transport within unsaturated porous media under transient-flow conditions

[1] Contaminant-scavenging colloids are mobilized in the vadose zone during infiltration events, characterized by transient flow regimes. In the research reported here we develop a mathematical model in order to investigate the influences of flow transients on colloid mobilization in unsaturated media. The model solves coupled equations for unsteady pore water flow, colloid release, advective-d...
